 The Feast of St. Michael on September 29 has become a combined feast for the Archangels Michael, Raphael and Gabriel. This feast is also called Michaelmas, as in “St. Michael’s Mass”. Pronounced “mikəlməs/ or [MIK] + [UHL] + [MUHS], similar to “Christmas” (“Christ’s Mass”). These Saints are venerated in the tradition of the Holy Catholic Church: St. Michael (Hebrew = Who is like unto God?) is the archangel who fought against Satan and all his evil angels, defending all the friends of God. He is the protector of all humanity from the snares of the devil. St. Gabriel (Strength of God) announced to Zachariah the forthcoming birth of John the Baptist, and to Mary, the birth of Jesus. His greeting to the Virgin, "Hail, full of grace," is one of the most familiar and frequent prayers of the Christian people. St. Raphael (Medicine of God) is the archangel who took care of Tobias on his journey. Read it for yourself in the Book of Tobit! You're Invited! Greetings, Families! St. Patrick's Catholic Church is blessed to be able to offer faith formation opportunities as the new school year begins! Our parish continues to focus on Family Catechesis with the goal of equipping parents to pass on the ever-vibrant, robust Catholic faith to the next generation. Parents are the primary educators of the faith in the domestic church (the home) and we'll encourage and support one another as we each grow in our vocations. The first and foremost way children learn the joys of following Jesus Christ and the truths of our Faith, is through regular family attendance at Mass. See you on Sunday (or Saturday)! Additionally, research shows that parental involvement and authentic Christian witness is a key element in ensuring that children continue to practice their Christian faith. We look forward to liturgical celebrations, classes, parent meetings, service events, and feast days to meet up with old and new friends of all ages as we press on towards deeper relationship with Our Lord.  Time to register! Please look for Registration forms in the vestibule, or click on button to the right to access the forms and return them to the Church Office at your earliest convenience. Families who register prior to the first class pay a reduced rate. Classes and events will be held for parents leading their children through Faith Formation, and for students preparing for the following Sacraments: - First Reconciliation - First Holy Communion - Confirmation We look forward to a bright and joyful year with our parish families! |
